Apex Vets Pet Blood Bank post host session
November 11, 2022
On the 30th of October here at Apex Vets we were delighted to be able to host our first ever Pet Blood Bank host session! (Hopefully the first of many!)
What happens in a Pet Blood Bank donation session?
Just like a human donation service, sessions are run across the country to collect blood samples which will then be used to help save the life of other dogs. Once your registration is complete you can bring your dog along to a donation session where they will receive a health check prior to donating. Your dog will then be lifted on to the table and asked to lie on their side.
Your pet will donate approximately 450ml of blood – which will take about 5-10 minutes – this donation can save up to 4 dogs lives!
Your pet will then get a drink of water and a snack, they will then get a goody bag to take home containing a toy and some treats.
We had an amazing 17 dogs turn up to our first donation session on the 30th, with a total of 13 units donated! This is fantastic and will go towards saving the lives of up to 52 other dogs! Well done to all our superstars who attended the session.
We will hopefully be hosting more donation sessions in the future so keep your eyes open for any information regarding future sessions!
