COVID-19 (Coronavirus) – an update for our clients.

Position: Veterinary Surgeon

Since qualifying from the University of Glasgow in 2008, and prior to joining Apex at the start of 2020, I worked within a number of multidiscipline Small Animal Veterinary Hospitals in West Yorkshire. During my time South of the border, I worked alongside experienced, referral and specialist level vets in various disciplines including internal medicine, oncology, ophthalmology, cardiology, dermatology, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, gaining vast experience and a passion for providing the highest level of care for the wide variety of cases seen in small animal practice. It was during this time that I developed a love of all things surgical and was lucky enough to also be mentored by European and Royal College recognised Specialists in Small Animal Surgery. In December 2020 I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Veterinary Professional Studies through the University of Liverpool, and I am currently working towards the RCVS Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice.

Outside of the veterinary world my main interest is Olympic Gymnastics having previously represented Scotland at International level. Following my retirement from competition I was keen to remain involved in the sport and am currently one of 3 women in the UK and around 10 women worldwide to hold the International (Brevet) Judge qualification for Men’s Artistic Gymnastics. I have judged internationally for both Team GB, and Team Scotland including at the Delhi 2010, Glasgow 2014, and Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. I was also selected as one of the top 18 judges under the age of 35 in the World, by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) to judge at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires.

At home I have two cheeky cats (who I will always refer to as kittens!) Rogue and Logan, who I hand-reared after they were found and brought in to work as orphans while I was working in West Yorkshire.
