Pet Blood Bank Session January 2023 + March 2023 Session

January 16, 2023

PET BLOOD BANK HOST SESSION

We successfully hosted another Pet Blood Bank donation session on Sunday 15th of January. We had a fantastic turnout on this day – we had a whopping 17 dogs that attended the practice which meant that there was 12 units donated from the day – this could help save up to 48 lives!

All donations are used from the sessions – part donations are used for training (sometimes the blood sample just stops, through no fault of the pet donating!)

We are delighted to announce that we are going to be hosting another Pet Blood Bank donation session. This will take place on Sunday 12th of March. Your pet can give a donation every 2 months.

If you would like your pet to be involved in this session and become a lifesaver please register your pet online at; https://www.petbloodbankuk.org/pet-owners/dog-blood-donation/register-your-dog/, or you can also book via the Pet Blood Bank app.

What happens at a donation session?

Please bring with you any paperwork that Pet Blood have sent you out, filled in, to this appointment. Your pet will then get a ‘pre-donation’ health check. Your dog will then be lifted on to a table and asked to lie on their side for 5-10 minutes while the donation is taken. (Can’t forget the brave life saver tummy rubs during the process!)

Your dog will then get some treats and water after their donation.

They will get a Pet Blood Bank bandana included in their goody bag!

There is lots of information on the Pet Blood Bank website should you have any questions/ concerns about your pet donating blood.
