I am Chloe, the Head Veterinary Nurse here at Apex Vets. I qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2015 after studying at Edinburgh Napier University for 4 years.

I gained my BSc Honours Degree in Veterinary Nursing with first class, and even won the University Medal for top in my class. I was thrilled when I was offered the job here at Apex Vets. I was a student in training when I was offered the job, and I gladly accepted.

I have grown up in Denny, with lots of family and friends in the area. I was promoted to Head Veterinary Nurse in August 2018. I love being able to be a nurse and get involved with the management side of the practice. I lead a team of highly skilled passionate nurses and animal care assistants. I love being a Veterinary Nurse and feel lucky to be in a career that I enjoy.

I grew up in a family of animal lovers. My grandparents have bred and owned Irish Setters for 40 years, so I have been in love with the breed all my life. I now own three Irish Setters with my partner Stuart; Jeffrey, Caolila, and Caolila’s son Freddie. I started showing dogs when I was 10 years old, and now regularly judge, steward, and show our dogs around the UK.

I am also passed to judge Irish Setters at Championship show level. I am now the proud owner of the “Glencarron” kennel affix and had my first litter of puppies in 2022. I love promoting responsible and healthy breeding and pet ownership and can use my knowledge and experience in the practice.

I also enjoy baking cakes and exercising, I love to keep busy!

Clinical Interests:

  • Radiography
  • Dental
  • Physiotherapy
  • Schedule 3 Procedures (Minor Surgery)

I gained my nursing experience through Apex by starting on work experience and building my way to a nursing student to officially starting as a Qualified Veterinary Nurse in March 2014. I have always had a love for animals and knew after reading about veterinary nursing that is what I wanted to do. I hope to carry on learning and improving my skills within the profession to continue giving my best service to all our clients.

I have a keen interest in Radiography and Dentistry but enjoy general nursing duties and looking after all the patients that enter the practice.

I live with my beautiful Golden Labrador, Truffs and my Floofy cat Finn. In my spare time, I like going to watch Ice Hockey, sitting in the house knitting or drawing and darts. I play every Monday for the Scotia 2 team, in the Carronbrae’s dart league.

I qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse, graduating in July 2018 from Edinburgh Napier University with honours.

I am local to the area and had many placements at the practice and so was delighted when offered the job here at Apex. Having been here for just over a year now I have really loved getting to know all our patients and clients alike. I now even have a few regulars that I see often which has been great for building a bond, making coming to work that bit better.

I really love all animals, but I am particularly interested in cats. I think they are the amazing characters and strike the right balance between being independent and wanting attention and affection making them my perfect animal. I’ve always had cats throughout my life and now I have 2 of my own, Oscar and Alfie. Whilst keeping up to date with all my clinical skills, I also strive to make vets visits better for cats. I’m currently studying with the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM) to achieve a certificate in feline nursing. This will allow me to implement what I learn to improving standards at the practice.

Clinical Interests:

  • Radiography
  • Dental
  • Physiotherapy
  • Schedule 3 Procedures (Minor Surgery)

My name is Gemma and I have been a Registered Veterinary Nurse for 6 years. I qualified in 2014 from Edinburgh Napier University with a BSc Honours Degree in Veterinary Nursing and went on to work in a Small Animal Practice in Cumbernauld.  I was excited to be given the chance to work at Apex Vets to be able to experience the plethora of animals and interesting cases that Apex has to offer.  The opportunity to further my knowledge and work alongside the skilled team here was something I could not pass by.

I grew up with an assortment of pets, from Love Birds and Finches to Hamsters and Guinea Pigs and have always known that I wanted to work with animals.  However, I did not know that Veterinary Nursing was the career for me until I spent a few weeks at a Veterinary Practice during my sixth year of High School.  I then couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

I currently live in Carntyne with my sister, which can be quite interesting at times, and with my Diva of a Bichon Frise called Maisy.  In my spare time I love to read and bake cakes.  I take every opportunity that the sun is out to head up to our family caravan in Rosneath and go for walks with Maisy.

Annie

Veterinary Nurse
cG9zdDozNTE2

I studied Veterinary Nursing at the Edinburgh Napier university, recently qualifying with a first class BSc with Honours. After gaining experience in different veterinary practices in Scotland I was lucky enough to finish my studies at Apex Vets and managed to get a full-time job here after my studies. I was very excited to be an official part of such a great team and to continue to build more relationships with our patients and clients.

My love for animals and my drive to provide the best care to our patients originates from when I was a young child always on farms! I absolutely loved helping the farmers with all their animals and my interest just kept growing! After attending work experience in different veterinary practices, I fell in love with the job and here we are today, a now qualified vet nurse.

I have a big black Labrador at home called Bracken who keeps me busy and loves visiting Apex for the cuddles and treats!
