Fleas – Post Prescription Advice

• Treat all floors and 5cm of everything touching them. Please use household spray provided by vet to treat all rooms and areas (including shed, car etc).  Please be aware of risks to fish and birds.
• Treat all pets, on the same day, with flea treatment (not house spray).
• Vacuum twice a week in the areas your pet goes.
• Take sofa apart and vacuum thoroughly in sofa crevices.
• Allow treated pets access to all rooms/areas as this helps to treat the environment they live in.
• Fleas crawl! Treat under sofa, lamps etc.
• If you have small furries, please discuss treatment for these with your vet.
• You may see a rise in flea numbers in the Summer …… but also in the Winter months when the central heating is put back on.

On-going Recommendations:

• Treat pets every month with recommended treatment.
• Vacuum regularly.
• Wash bedding, cushion covers etc, on a hot wash regularly.
• Calendarise to treat your pet on the same date every month.
• Visit vets on time to pick up required treatment.
• If you have small furries, please discuss treatment for these with your vet.
