Apex hosts Pet Blood Bank donation session

Every 9 weeks, here at Apex Vets, we host a Pet Blood Bank donation session.

Pet blood donation is vital to help save the lives of pets in need, one donation from your pet can help to save the lives of up to 4 other dogs. This can save thousands of lives every year!

Pet Blood Bank are always looking for more pets to register as lifesavers. Your pet does not need to be registered with Apex Vets (or any other practice hosting a session) to attend one of the donation sessions. Please visit: https://www.petbloodbankuk.org/pet-owners/dog-blood-donation/register-your-dog/, to register your pet today!

What happens at a donation session?

Please bring with you any paperwork that Pet Blood have sent you out, filled in, to this appointment. Your pet will then get a ‘pre-donation' health check. Your dog will then be lifted on to a table and asked to lie on their side for 5-10 minutes while the donation is taken. (Can't forget the brave life saver tummy rubs during the process!)

  • Your dog will then get some treats and water after their donation.
  • They will get a Pet Blood Bank bandana included in their goody bag!

There is lots of information on the Pet Blood Bank website should you have any questions/ concerns about your pet donating blood. The staff are very helpful if you wish to contact them with any questions or concerns.
